    The music industry is not for everyone.  In a field where criticism is constant and the only way to even make an attempt at “breaking through” is by putting everything you have out for public consumption, it says a lot when a band can even survive a tour without either killing a member or selling all their instruments and vowing to go back to school and work a 9-5 after a week’s worth of time.  Keeping this in mind, I just wanted to say how astonished I am with everything about Sparks The Rescue.  These guys from Maine seem to have been through hell as far as a label was concerned, but I can wholeheartedly say that they have grown tremendously since I first found out about them over a year ago.  I got the opportunity to promote an event that they played last May.  Though they may not have fit in precisely with the headliner - (who wants that anyway?) - they truly commanded attention the entire time they were on that stage.  Alex took the time to talk to us, which isn’t something all bands feel obligated to do.  Since then, they’ve left their label and opened a kickstarter that I believe took them far past their pre-set goals.  I saw them in October at the Stone Pony, and again on their headliner with D.R.U.G.S. this past January.  Every time I see those guys play music, there’s a certain kind of tangibility to the energy they project.  They all play with such heart and I know that they’re not going to back down anytime soon from any bullshit that they might run into, and I just wanted to say how absolutely proud I am to see how far they have come.  I wish them all the best in the future and seriously implore anybody reading this to check them out if you’ve yet to listen to them.  They are worth your time.
